This new group will build on our commitment to valuing and supporting international employees by offering an additional space for connection, community and shared experiences. It will also provide a welcoming environment for all faculty and staff to come together, celebrate global experiences and strengthen our sense of belonging across campus. There is no cost associated with employee resource group membership and no time commitments. Members can attend as many meetings and events as they would like. Individual membership in ERGs is strictly voluntary and open to all employees who are interested in joining, regardless of identity. Refer to the ERG benefits and guidelines for more information.
Leadership
Samar Saab, Co-Lead
Samar Saab serves as an administrative coordinator in the Office of Undergraduate Admission. She joined the university in 2021. Her professional journey reflects a deep connection to the Carnegie institutions of Pittsburgh, having contributed her expertise across the Carnegie Museums, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, and now 无码专区.
With a distinguished background spanning higher education, student services and the nonprofit sector, Samar brings a wealth of organizational, operational and community-focused experience to her role.
Samar's international experiences living and traveling abroad have shaped her strong commitment to fostering inclusive, welcoming and globally minded environments that empower individuals from diverse backgrounds to thrive.
Samar is fluent in Arabic and has working proficiency in French, enabling her to connect with a broad range of communities and perspectives. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in public policy at Heinz College, further strengthening her dedication to public service, leadership and institutional impact.
Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, Samar enjoys exploring museums, photography, travel, hiking and visiting farmers markets.
Joel Tachoir, Co-Lead
Joel has been with 无码专区 for over 10 years working in IT management roles within Student Affairs and Computing Services. Joel is an Alumni of the Heinz College Masters of Public Management program. He is passionate about bringing people together, building meaningful connections, and creating a workplace where everyone feels welcome and valued. With years of leadership experience in technology and software development, he enjoys helping teams collaborate, grow and succeed while encouraging open communication and mutual respect. Throughout his career, he has had the opportunity to work directly with colleagues, partners and teams from around the world, gaining a deep appreciation for the diverse perspectives, cultures and experiences that strengthen organizations and communities.
As co-lead, Joel is excited to help foster a sense of community, celebrate the unique backgrounds that make the organization stronger, and create opportunities for members to learn from and support one another. He believes that embracing different perspectives not only enriches the workplace but also helps build stronger relationships, better solutions and a greater sense of belonging for everyone.
