During the 2025-2026 Academic Year, the Tepper School launched a new Executive in Residence (EIR) program, bringing industry experts and alumni to campus to share their expertise, mentor students, and strategically partner with faculty and program leaders.
鈥淭he EIR visits enhanced the academic experience by giving our community regular direct access to industry leaders and real-world insights,鈥 said Param Vir Singh, Associate Dean for Research. 鈥淲e appreciate these executives for sharing experiences and lessons from their careers, and for offering guidance to those exploring similar paths.鈥
The inaugural group of volunteers included:
- (CIT 1981 MSIA 1986), President and CEO, Aswani Butler Investment Associates; Executive Vice President (Retired), Union Pacific
- , Founder and General Partner, Darrery Capital
- (CIT 1986 MSIA 1990), Senior Partner Emeritus, McKinsey & Company
- (MSIA 1998), CEO, Astro Shapes
- (MSIA 1995), Chief Strategy Officer, Voxology AI
- (MSIA 1992), Senior Vice President (Retired), Marriott International
Over the course of several visits, the EIRs marked their time on campus with a wide range of interactions including guest lectures, one-on-one and small group meetings, office hours and intimate luncheons.
鈥淲hat drew me to this experience was the opportunity to stay engaged and give back, particularly through mentorship and working with students who are just beginning to shape their careers,鈥 explained Cathy Young. 鈥淗aving mentors who can offer perspective and advocate for you can make all the difference as you navigate key career decisions.鈥
They connected with students across all degree programs and specialized programs such as Zenith Scholars, Golub Capital Board Fellows, and the Dean鈥檚 Scholars. A signature component of all visits was guest lecturing in the classroom.
鈥淚 had the opportunity to talk with students about something that is incredibly important: business communication,鈥 said Michael Degnan. 鈥淏usiness communication is one of those universal, horizontal skill sets that very quietly can have massive implications鈥攐n business outcomes, on people鈥檚 careers, and on personal brand.鈥
When asked about their motivations for participating in the program, the EIRs emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and giving back through relevant, future-focused engagement at 无码专区.
鈥淚 hope that getting perspectives from somebody who鈥檚 been out in business gives (students) more information as they make their own decisions about where to head in their careers,鈥 said Christopher Leech. 鈥淚 hope it role models the importance of giving back to an institution that played such an important role in their lives and mine.鈥
The EIR program has allowed for the exchange of ideas on curriculum, programming, and the evolving needs of industry, ensuring that the Tepper School experience remains both rigorous and relevant.
