Information for Advisors/Administrators

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholar Deveopment encourages students to present their research at appropriate academic conferences. We feel that this is a great way for students to learn more about the academic world, and their field in particular, and to get practice presenting their research to an interested audience.

Advisors:

Individual students can be awarded up to $300 for regional conferences (conferences taking place in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, and Washington, DC), or up to $500 for conferences in other states or abroad.   Students can receive one award per academic year. Awards are available as funds last.

Students must complete a Presentation Award application and submit it along with a brief description of the research being presented, an official acknowledgement from the conference that their research has been accepted for presentation, a budget of expenses, and a statement of support from their faculty advisor.

Once a student submits an application, an automated email will be sent to the faculty mentor that includes a link to the application.  The faculty mentor must upload a Statement of Support and approve the application. Once the mentor uploads the statement and accepts the form, your application is complete and will be reviewed.

Applications will NOT be reviewed until the budget and acceptance are attached and the mentor submits the Statement of Support.

Disbursement of Funds:

Presentation Award funds are usually transferred to the advisor's account and dispersed through the advisor's department. We encourage advisors to help offset conference expenses that are not covered by the Presentation Award. We ask that the advisor and appropriate departmental staff make students aware of departmental and university proceedures for processing travel expenses.

In cases where the department cannot pay the funds, or if the faculty mentor is not from 无码专区, our office issue payment directly to the student.
