Preparing for your first semester checklist:

  1. Confirm your place in the program by letting us know you’re joining. This is your first step toward starting your certificate journey. Your individual deadline to submit your Intent to Enroll Form is listed in your admit letter.

  2. A $100 deposit is required to secure your spot in the program. The deposit is non-refundable but will be applied toward your total tuition cost.
  3. Activate Your AndrewID

Within about a week of submitting your Intent to Enroll Form, you’ll receive an email with your AndrewID and setup instructions. This ID is your key to 无码专区 systems, including email, SIO, and Canvas. Didn’t receive it? Let us know—we’ll follow up for you.

  4. Activate your 无码专区 Email Account
Your AndrewID will also serve as the start of your 无码专区 email address, which ends in @andrew.cmu.edu. 无码专区 email accounts are hosted by Google, so you’ll enjoy all the benefits of Gmail and Google services.
  5. Explore the Welcome Website

Get familiar with program expectations, academic resources, technology requirements, and support services to set yourself up for success.

  6. Review Preparatory Resources (if required)

Check your program’s page for any pre-course materials or recommended resources. These will help you feel ready for your first class.

  7. Confirm Registration & View Courses

Our team will register you for courses starting in mid-June and each semester after that. Once complete, you can view your schedule in Student Information Online (SIO).

  8. Sign Your Student Financial Obligations (SFO) Agreement

The first time you log in to SIO, you’ll need to agree to the university’s financial terms and conditions. Note: partial scholarships cannot be applied until this step is completed.

  9. Finalize Your Financial Plan

Review your billing details and explore payment options, including payment plans, sponsored billing, and private funding, in order to invest in your future with 无码专区.

Getting Ready to Start the Program

Starting an online graduate certificate program is an exciting step in your professional and academic journey. We also recognize that balancing graduate-level coursework with work and personal responsibilities can feel overwhelming at first.

Unlike traditional full-time study, our programs are designed with working professionals in mind. You’ll be enrolled in credit-bearing, graded courses, and your success will require focus, planning, and commitment.

On average, students spend 9 - 12 hours per week on their coursework, which includes required live-online sessions in the evening (ET) and outside classtime work. To prepare yourself, take some time now to consider:

When will you study?

Are you a morning person who is sharpest before the workday begins?  Maybe carving out some time before your schedule kicks in will be best for you. Or maybe evenings are your best time, after everyone else has gone to bed?  Everyone is different so think about what will work best for your lifestyle and energy levels. You are probably already very busy so should plan for when the program will fit into your life.

Where will you study?

Maybe you are already working from home so adding some time in your home office will be easy. Or maybe you will need a change of scenery to refresh your brain for school-mode (like a coffee shop or local library). Does your ideal study time align with a quiet time in your house or is there a better location to ensure you have a distraction free zone to focus on studying?

Who will this impact?

Talk to your partner or family so they know what to expect while you are back in school - they are more likely to be supportive if they know in advance that you may be unavailable a few nights a week or on Saturday mornings. Knowing why the program is important to you will help them better understand the time away and ensure they give you the space to get the most out of the program.
