How Privacy Preserving Techniques Influence Truthful Disclosure Across Different Types of Stigmas
Advisor: Sarah Scheffler聽
Major: Cognitive Computation
Abstract
My research hopes to investigate intersections between the social sciences and privacy. Specifically, I will be looking at the effect of privacy preserving technologies on human subject studies collecting sensitive data. Cryptography tools have the potential to provide an added layer of privacy in data collection by outputting only aggregates of large sets of data. This technology removes the possibility of data breaches from malicious attackers or human error. Some interesting intersections to investigate include the intersection between incentive and privacy and the intersection between stigma and privacy. Do different incentives influence people鈥檚 behavior/disclosure of sensitive information? How about different types of sensitive information? And how do privacy preserving tools play into all of this?
